The malleable OS for the age of agents

The malleable OS for the age of agents. Vibe your way through every alteration, tweak, or trouble.

- DHH (David Heinemeier Hansson), creator of Ruby on Rails, co-owner and CTO of 37signals

Omarchy is David Heinemeier Hansson's Arch Linux + Hyprland desktop: an opinionated, keyboard-first developer environment marketed as beautiful, fun and agentic Linux.

What started as DHH's personal setup (sister project to Omakub) has become one of the most visible proofs that AI agents can build and maintain real infrastructure. The project ships launchers for every major coding-agent CLI and treats the agent as a core contributor.

For engineering leaders, Omarchy is a reference implementation of the agentic workflow: OpenCode (which runs open-weight models alongside commercial APIs) and Claude Code ship as defaults, LM Studio and Ollama are the recommended paths for local models, and the OS itself is documented as vibe-coded - altered, tweaked, and debugged through agent sessions. When something breaks, you hand the crash to the agent. The manual is written for the age of agents.
